Baking in the hotel suite!

  • December 20, 2025

We’re in full swing in the holiday season with Christmas just days away, now is the time to get your baking on! Visiting friends and staying at the hotel? Here at Best Western Plus Rose City Suites have the perfect kitchen space available for you! We have suites equipped with full kitchens, full size oven, stove and fridge and all the cooking and baking dishware you will need! (disclosure; we do not have mixers, or whisks available) No matter if you're home or traveling for the holidays we have you covered!

Can't decide on a recipe? Try out our Grinch cookie recipe. Made by one of our staff last holiday season that won everyone over with its delicious minty taste, and tribute to a Christmas classic. We loved this recipe so much we had to share it!

Start by getting a large freezer safe mixing bowl, and adding 1 box of vanilla cake mix to the bowl. Then add ? cup vegetable oil to the cake mix, also adding 2 eggs to the mixture. For your perfect Grinch green color add a few drops of green food coloring. For the perfect minty taste add a teaspoon or two of peppermint extract. Mix well and set mixture in the fridge for an hour. By putting the mixture in the fridge it will allow the mix to be easier to work with when rolling and baking. Once the mixture has had time to firm up, shape into balls and roll the balls of dough in powdered sugar. Place on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and bake at 350 degrees for 11-12 minutes ensuring a watchful eye to make sure the cookies don't over cook. Remove from the oven, let cool and enjoy!

For a fun addition to the cookie, add a red sprinkle heart to each cookie before baking. We hope your next stay with us you try this recipe, you will have everyone craving cookies. Happy baking!

  • Things to do

As the year quiets down for the hospitality business in Niagara, we can't help but think back at the seasons we have here at the hotel, what the city offers our guests and how we are already anticipating the excitement of 2026.
