Julia Turner was a young vibrant member of the Welland community, often spending her time volunteering for the Harvest Kitchen and The Hope Centre serving meals and support to people in need in her community Julia was always there to support her friends, family and community. She was an inspiration to many! In 2011 Julia was diagnosed with a cancerous brain tumor in May that progressed quickly, Julia lost her battle with brain cancer that following December.

Julia’s family created the Julia's Hope Cup to continue to carry on her friendly, caring and giving spirit, and for years, have been donating all proceeds raised by the event to The Hope Centre. Every February, the Julia's Hope Cup is held, bringing family, friends and the community together for some good old fashioned pond hockey, a silent auction, and lunch.
