A Rainy Day Plan!

  • August 02, 2025

Has an unexpected rainy day ruined your plans? Have no fear, Best Western is here!

To start every day off right we recommend coming down to our Breakfast room. Enjoy your coffee with some fresh waffles, and maybe a chocolate muffin or two while you watch the sunrise. Open 6am-9:30am on weekdays and 6:30am-10am on Saturdays and Sundays, we’ll make sure you kick your day off right, no matter the change in plans.

But where to go from there? The world (and the Niagara region) is your oyster!

First stop, some retail therapy to ease the sting of ruined plans. Our Seaway Mall at 800 Niagara St has over 90 stores to peruse and browse, even a movie theatre! If you’ve explored all those shops though and you still want more it’s a 25 minute drive to the Outlet Collection at Niagara, Canada’s largest open-air outlet shopping mall! Boasting an open-air concept, the mall still has coverings that will keep you dry and out of the rain while you peruse their 100+ stores.

Feeling hungry after shopping? Right across the street from the Seaway mall is a local favourite, M.T. Bellies. Since 1993 M.T. Bellies has been a one-of-a-kind location serving locals delicious food and drinks with a smile. With lovely staff and a menu that has enough variety to make everyone happy, it’s even the dedicated “date night” spot for some of our staff!

When lunch is done, why not head over to see the Welland Historical Museum? Located at 140 King St, the museum is free to visit but suggests a donation of $3 per person to help keep the lights on. With various exhibits, the museum will give you a look at the rich history of the area, from the early days of the canal on, it’s sure to delight.

To finish off the day we have a few hotspots to recommend based on your mood. First is the Rex Hotel, family owned and operated in Welland since 1914. With classic Italian dishes, and good old-fashioned pizza and wings, they’ve even got delicious cocktails to accompany whatever you choose to eat. Next is a new local favourite, Tempus Restaurant. A strong believer that every moment should be enjoyed, they pride themselves on culinary excellence that meets an atmosphere like a warm embrace. And with a build-your-own charcuterie on the menu, and the best view in the city, it’s hard to stay away.

Lastly, whether you want to head over for dinner and a drink, or just to enjoy the atmosphere, you have to head over to our neighbouring town St. Catharines to experience the board-game cafe Ludology. With more games than we can count, a rotating list of handmade cocktails, teas, coffees, and local wines and beers, all accompanied by to-die-for food, there’s sure to be lots of giggles and memories to treasure long after you leave.   Trinity!

Niagara has some pretty tasty places for treats, including a Dairy Queen that's been serving since 1954 in it's original location.
