Art in the Open

  • October 26, 2018

The true test of any Guest Service Agent (Front Desk Personnel) answering the question ‘what is there to do here?’ when it is not summer anymore and there are no special events taking place.

Today, I will answer that question with Art in the Open (https://artintheopen.ca/ ).  Every piece of art on this webpage is outdoors, therefore available 7 days a week, and no admission.  I personally love to admire sculptures, topiary, and read monuments when I visit other cities, you learn about their culture and history.

The site covers art from all over Niagara, including 41 pieces in Welland, 36 in St Catharines and 13 in Port Colborne.  When you decide on what city to explore, you can zoom in on the page to see where these pieces are located, and read about them. Now this isn’t a reason to stay in all day just reading about the art, but get outside and see it in person…unless it is pouring rain, it’s a great idea for something to do indoors.

Only like specific types of art? Narrow your search to only include monuments, or statues, or themes of military or street art, once you start exploring, you’ll wish every city you visit had a site like this one.

Happy Exploring, post your selfies of your explorations on our Facebook page @BWPlusRoseCitySuites
